In the first section of this thesis a synthetic approach towards nanocomposite gold-block copolymer nanofibres is presented. Mesoporous anodic alumina serves as hard template for the formation of nanofibres and gold mesitylene as single-source-precursor for the gold nanoparticles. Based on the results of transmission electron microscopic and spectroscopic investigations the formation and ordering process of the gold nanoparticles inside the polymer fibres is presented and discussed. As further topic of this thesis the investigation of fluorinated organometallic lead(II) compounds as single-source-precursors for cubic lead fluoride is described. Systematic investigations of the thermolytic precursor decompostition are presented. The relative stabilities of the cubic and the orthorhombic lead fluoride modification are discussed intensively in the literature. The investigations on the precursor-assisted lead fluoride synthesis described in this thesis suggest that the cubic modification might be thermodynamically favoured. Using porous alumina as hard template a straightforward synthetic access to erbium doped yttria nanotubes is presented. By infiltration of erbium and yttrium nitrate into alumina templates, followed by thermolysis of the precursor, nanotubes with regular diameters, high aspect ratios and homogeneous erbium doping can be obtained. The samples calcined at 500 °C exhibit only weak crystallinity but nevertheless show up-converted fluorescence. Besides their applications as hard templates the use of alumina membranes in humidity sensing is investigated. A preparation method for the coating of alumina membranes with 18 carat gold films and their transformation to porous gold layers by dealloying is described. Based on impedance spectroscopic measurements the applicability of gold-coated alumina membranes as humidity sensors is discussed.en
