Countries such as the United States or the UK use mass surveillance to keep an eye on everybody. This way, surveillance is infiltrating places where they may not be acceptable, since it can be hostile and disturbing. This is the case of academic environments such as schools, universities or libraries where the excessive use of surveillance is affecting dramatically learners behavior and learning process. In the text, the author questions the use of extreme surveillance at schools, and proposes the creation of a writing club where learners raise their voices against the use of intrusive surveillance in academic settings.enIn Copyrightddc:420Promoting a writing club in the EFL classroom to react to abusive and intrusive surveillance at schools
