Klimazonierung von Georgien : Dokumentation und Kritik bestehender Klimaklassifikationen anhand von langjährigen Klimadaten und mittels eines Geographischen Informationssystems

Abstract

Im Mittelpunkt der Arbeit steht die Klimazonierung des südkaukasischen Staates Georgien. Basierend auf Klimadaten von 1961 bis 1990 für 101 Klimastationen wird innerhalb eines Geographischen Informationssystems (GIS) die räumliche Temperatur- und Niederschlagsverteilung berechnet und eine Klimazonierung durchgeführt. Bestehende Klimazonierungen und Klimaklassifikationen werden dokumentiert und verglichen.

In Georgien treten mit einer Staatsfläche von 69.700 km² auf kleinem Raum viele unterschiedliche Klimate auf. Klar erkennbare Klimascheide ist das Surami-Gebirge, das den Großen Kaukasus mit dem Kleinen Kaukasus verbindet und den maritim geprägten feuchten Westen vom kontinentalen trockenen Osten abgrenzt.

Climate Zoning of the South-Caucasian state Georgia is the objective of this work. On the basis of longstanding climate data for 101 climate stations a temperature and a precipitation map are interpolated with a Geographic Information System (GIS). Existing climate zonings and classifications are documented and compared. Basis for the comparison of global and regional climate zonings is a calculated climate map.

Georgia has very different climate zones. The Surami-Mountains which connect the Great with the Small Caucasus are an obvious climate border and divide the maritim wet West-Georgia from the continental dry East-Georgia.
