Abstract

The synthesis of bis(bis(8-quinoloyl)amide)metal(II) complexes with chromium, manganese, iron and zinc metal centres was achieved. Their molecular structures and spectroscopic properties were investigated. The complexes were tried to use as semiconductors within a bottom gate bottom contact setup in order to produce organic field-effect transistors (OFET). The iron and zinc complex were suitable for this purpose and they could be used for the creation of an OFET. The chromium complex was not suitable for OFET operation, as its conductivity was too high. The manganese complex did not show any conductivity within this setup and therefore was also not usable. Based on these initial findings derivates of the zinc and iron complexes were synthesized and their structures investigated.
