The investigation of the four different diamond burs showed a signigicant distinction of the different kinds of preparation that was only possible in connection with the kind of casting due to the accuracy of the manufactured crowns. The number of smallest measured marginal gaps is distributed evenly on the four different diamond burs, so that it was not possible to determine an allocation between a certain shape and the best results (Tab. 4). Nevertheless one should ragard the choice of the diamond burs as always differentiated. The selection of the diamond burs depends both on the form of the prepared tooth and on the choice of the impression technique. The 90° rounded tip is the most suitable for the monophase impression technique of a molar. However, if one selects the monophase technique in order to cast a front tooth, based on the significant differences and the results of the measurements, one should rather use the standard Marxkors-tip or the tips with the 90° bevel instead of using the rounded tips. The results of this study show that it is possible with the selection of the burs, a technical requirement of the design of the finish line, to minimize the marginal discrepancy between the tooth and the metal restauration. Thus one is having an influence on the biological requirements of the design of the finish line; e. g. the avoidance of the irritation of the marginal periodontium.en
